VS Photo

Vasco Dos Santos was born in Porto, Portugal. He grew up in Lisbon, Rome and Salamanca. When he was five years old, his parents gave him a box camera and he fell in love with photography. Later, he became interested in painting and studied figurative and abstract painting at Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto.

After graduating, Vasco opened a studio in S.M.Feira where he was part of the art scene, socializing with artists including Paula Rego, Alvaro Siza Vieira, Ricardo Vieira and Bernardo Sassetti. During this period Vasco exhibited widely, including an exhibit at the Oporto Historical Society and Oporto University. Vasco supported himself largely with commercial photography assignments, specializing in photographing fashion, cinema and architecture.
